In the Seelisberg Tunnel, a key infrastructure component of the north-south axis, Norline carried out precise dismantling, removal and installation work under challenging conditions. The work was carried out at night whilst the tunnel remained in operation.
The Federal Roads Office, as the end client, has once again selected Norline – based on its track record in previous tunnel construction projects – to carry out the dismantling and removal of the existing pipework and the installation of the new pipework, recognising it as an experienced specialist contractor with proven expertise in precisely these stages of the work.
Working in motorway tunnels requires relevant experience as well as knowledge of the applicable rules and regulations. The work was carried out whilst the motorway remained open to traffic, in the immediate vicinity of the carriageway. It was precisely there that the existing pipework had to be dismantled and the new pipework reinstalled.
Once dismantled, the old pipe sections had to be loaded onto lorries and transported out of the tunnel. Following the dismantling and removal, the components for the new pipeline were delivered and subsequently installed by a contractor specialising in pipeline construction.
